I haven't posted in a little while due to several small family vacations and essential non-progress on any projects.
I'm about halfway through making the granny squares for The Happy Hooker's Color Square Blanket. This blanket exactly suits my needs because not only is it simple, and a really cute idea, but it's going to help me use up some of the colors I wish I hadn't bought, such as bright orange and red.
Another reason for my several-week absence is that I got a Kindle from my parents as a gift for making the Dean's List this year. The reason I mention the Kindle is that not only is it amazing (!!!) but I've been running all over the internet trying to find a good pattern for a cover and I haven't found one. I've found a couple so-so ones, that are basically just bags that they put a Kindle in, but I want one specifically designed for a Kindle and I want it to be snazzy. So I'm going to design one myself.
I'm going to make a flip-pouch for it. I'm going to make a long rectangle, and then fold and sew a few inches of one end to the rest of the rectangle like a folder. Only this folder doesn't open like a book but like a legal notepad. I'll attach one to three buttons to hold the Kindle in place.
For more of a designy element I'm considering doing Van Gogh's Starry Night, and then just making a day scene of it for the other side. I think Starry Night might be a bit too complex for something this small though, so I may just do a generic day and night dual scene, with like a tree and grass and the moon and sun.
Another cover picture I was considering was an owl. I love owls and I love what they stand for: wisdom. What better figure to put on a Kindle?
This project will probably be very frustrating and be frogged several times, but that's ok. I love my Kindle and it NEEDS a cozy. Hmm, maybe I'll make more than one. :)
